The 2011 Shimano XTR Race WH-M985 QR Wheelset lives up to the expectations you expect from the Japanese component leader. Designed around Shimano's top-end XTR hub and laced to a scandium alloy rim via black stainless steel spokes, the M985s are light and stiff enough for race day, yet tough enough to handle the stress of daily training rides. Shimano uses their cup and cone angular contact bearings in the XTR hubs and encases them in a 7076 T6 aluminum shell and axle. The cup and cone race system also enables a rider to set the bearing preload exactly to preferenceAAAeven if you haven't spent the last three years wrenching on bikes.
